Aidan Gomez, the CEO and co-founder of Cohere, has played a key role in the development of generative AI. While interning at Google in 2017, Gomez wrote a paper on transformers, which became the foundational technology for modern generative AI. Today, he focuses on building AI models for businesses. In an interview with CNBC’s Steve Kovach, Gomez provided insight into how his work at Cohere will drive profitability for companies.
“Our goal at Cohere is to build powerful generative AI models that are practical and easy to integrate into existing business processes,” said Gomez.
Emphasizing the potential of AI in every sector as transformational, he stated: “Generative AI can help automate many of the mundane tasks that consume much valuable time and resources. In doing so, companies can focus more on innovation and strategic growth.”
This includes automation from customer service chatbots to sophisticated data analysis tools. He gave an example of the direct impact on profitability through enhanced efficiency.
“Imagine having a system that can analyze thousands of documents in seconds to give actionable insights that would take a human days or even weeks. That’s the kind of efficiency we’re bringing to the table,” he remarked.
The AI models of Cohere are user-friendly and flexible.
“We want our technology to be accessible. Businesses shouldn’t need a team of PhDs to implement our solutions. Our models are built to integrate seamlessly with the tools companies already use,” stated Gomez.
Another key issue Gomez touched on was the scalability of AI solutions. He mentioned that the main advantage of AI is its scalability. He further added that once the model has been trained, it can be easily deployed throughout various departments and even companies with relatively minimal costs. This scalability ensures that businesses of all sizes can benefit from AI advancements.
He also touched on the future potential of AI in driving innovation.
“We’ve barely scratched the surface of what AI can do. As our models get better and continue to learn, the aperture into things that can be done will expand, offering more revenue streams and business opportunities,” he added.
Gomez’s vision for Cohere is built on practical, scalable AI solutions aimed at efficiency and profitability.
“Our mission is to democratize access to powerful AI tools, enabling businesses to harness the full potential of generative AI for their growth and success,” he closed.
