Czech Startup E2B Secures $11.5M to Develop Cloud Infrastructure for AI Agents

Czech startup E2B has secured $11.5M (€10.6M) in a seed funding round led by Alessio Fanelli of Decibel Partners. Founded in 2023 by Tomáš Valenta and Václav Mlejnský, childhood friends turned entrepreneurs, the company initially focused on iPhone game development before shifting to computer vision during their studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics. Today, E2B is developing cloud infrastructure tailored for AI agents and applications.

Mlejnský explained that E2B is building an open-source cloud environment to support the next generation of AI-powered software. Their platform is designed to simplify how developers run and test AI-generated code in secure “sandboxes,” environments that safely use a company’s own data. The platform also allows AI-generated code to analyze and visualize data more efficiently.

An AI agent, according to Mlejnský, is software that autonomously interacts with its environment, gathers data, and works towards specific goals. These agents require specialized cloud infrastructure to operate autonomously and safely while using other tools to accomplish their objectives.

Since January, E2B’s sandboxes have been launched more than six million times by developers, including teams from notable companies like Perplexity and the PGA. Karel Zheng of Kaya VC praised E2B as a pioneer in AI agent infrastructure and noted that the company is actively expanding its team.
