Adapt to AI or Risk Falling Behind, Warns ServiceNow CEO

ServiceNow CEO Bill McDermott believes artificial intelligence (AI) will transform every industry and warns that businesses dismissing AI’s importance will “lose big.” In a recent interview, McDermott laid out ServiceNow’s ambitious AI roadmap, detailing how the company integrates generative AI into its workflow management platform, which aims to reinvent enterprise operations for a new age.

“Everything is going to be AI-driven,” McDermott asserted, predicting that within two years, companies across all sectors will reimagine workflows through AI, reshaping each role to enhance productivity. ServiceNow’s platform is designed with “zero latency,” ensuring rapid, secure processing — a feature McDermott called “rocket fast and totally secure.” By embedding domain-specific AI into its core, the platform can meet the performance and cost needs of enterprise clients.

ServiceNow, positioning itself as “the AI operating system for the enterprise,” enables integration with leading AI models from tech giants like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon. This flexibility allows businesses to “bring your own model,” ensuring seamless alignment with industry-standard AI solutions. According to McDermott, this adaptability lets ServiceNow act as the “central nervous system” of well-run organizations, harmonizing various departments under a single, efficient interface.

McDermott pointed out that many enterprise systems are tangled in outdated, department-specific software — a setup he described as “a state of chaos.” ServiceNow’s unified platform consolidates this disarray into “one clean pane of glass,” effectively streamlining operations. For generative AI agents, ServiceNow not only manages its own but also provides governance, compliance, and risk management for third-party AI agents.

As ServiceNow pushes forward with AI adoption, McDermott’s message is clear: those who fail to embrace this technology will fall behind.
