Sheffield-based BOW, a robotics software company, has raised £4 million in Seed funding to accelerate the development of its universal robotics platform. The round was led by Northern Gritstone, with co-investment from Finance Yorkshire and Praetura Ventures as part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II.
This announcement follows the November 2024 appointment of Liz Upton, Co-Founder of Raspberry Pi, as Chair of BOW’s board, reinforcing the company’s commitment to democratizing robotics development and expanding its industry impact.
BOW’s platform enables software developers to build, deploy, and manage robotics applications regardless of the hardware, programming language, or operating system. By simplifying interoperability between different robot manufacturers, the company aims to broaden robotics adoption across industries that have been historically underserved.
CEO Nick Thompson highlighted BOW’s mission to bridge the gap between software and robotics, making robot programming more accessible. The funding will support scaling operations and further enhancing its AI-driven robotics solutions.
