French President Emmanuel Macron has unveiled €109 billion ($112 billion) in private investments for artificial intelligence, marking a major step in France’s ambition to compete on the global AI stage. The announcement comes as Paris hosts the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit, following previous summits in Bletchley Park and Seoul. Macron stated that France and Europe are accelerating their AI efforts, comparing the investment to the U.S.-led $500 billion Stargate project.
Funding commitments include €30–50 billion from the UAE and MGX, €20 billion from Canada’s Brookfield, €10 billion from Bpifrance, and €3 billion from telecom company Iliad, with additional contributions expected from Orange and Thales. Much of the funding will support AI-focused data centers, reinforcing France’s nuclear-powered energy advantage.
