Hamburg-based AI startup Elea has raised €4 million in seed funding, led by Fly Ventures and Giant Ventures, to transform healthcare workflows, starting with pathology labs. The company’s AI-powered pathology operating system replaces outdated information systems and manual reporting processes, significantly improving efficiency and accuracy.
Since launching its first lab deployment in October 2023, Elea has reduced diagnostic reporting time from weeks to just days. The system integrates speech-to-text transcription and AI-driven automation to streamline lab operations, reducing human error and administrative workload. CEO Dr. Christoph Schröder stated that Elea’s approach moves beyond augmentation, replacing traditional lab infrastructure with a fully integrated AI system.
With an initial partnership secured with a major German hospital group, Elea plans to expand internationally, targeting the U.S. market. The funding will accelerate product development, enhance AI capabilities, and scale adoption across healthcare sectors.
As the company prepares for a Series A funding round later this year, Elea is poised to redefine AI-driven workflow automation in pathology and beyond, optimizing healthcare efficiency on a global scale.
