Mark Cuban Says AI is the Future, Predicts Companies That Don’t Adapt Will Fail

Billionaire investor Mark Cuban believes artificial intelligence is the defining technology of the future, predicting that companies failing to embrace AI will be left behind. Speaking at Arizona State University in a conversation with former U.S. Senator Jeff Flake, Cuban stated that businesses must integrate AI or risk extinction, comparing the shift to the adoption of personal computers and the internet decades ago.

He recalled skepticism toward computers in the 1980s, saying workers once feared typing on a screen would replace secretaries, a notion that now seems outdated. Cuban said that companies mastering AI — like Alphabet, Apple, Microsoft, and Nvidia — are leading the global economy, reinforcing his belief that AI literacy is critical for future success.

“There’s going to be two types of companies in this world: Those who are great at AI, and everybody else that they put out of business.”

 — Mark Cuban

His commitment to AI extends beyond business, with The Mark Cuban Foundation’s Intro to AI Bootcamps, launched in 2019, aiming to increase AI education for underserved students. Cuban also suggested that if he were starting today, he would teach AI skills to small and mid-sized businesses, capitalizing on the demand for AI expertise and prompt engineering — a field now generating six-figure salaries.
