Norwegian robotics startup 1X will begin early testing of its AI-powered humanoid robot, Neo Gamma, in homes by late 2025, with plans to deploy the system to “a few hundred to a few thousand” households, according to CEO Bernt Børnich.
Speaking at NVIDIA’s GTC 2025, Børnich said the goal is to allow Neo Gamma to “live and learn among people,” with real-world data shaping its in-house AI systems. While not yet fully autonomous, Neo Gamma combines AI navigation with teleoperation, enabling human operators to guide its actions remotely. Backed by OpenAI, 1X sees these trials as a critical step in building a safe, adaptive robotic assistant for the home.
