SoftBank Plans $1T U.S. Investment to Build AI-Powered Factories Addressing Labor Shortages

SoftBank Group is reportedly preparing a massive $1 trillion investment to build AI-equipped factories across the United States, according to a new report from Nikkei. The initiative would deploy intelligent robots in industrial parks nationwide to support American manufacturers facing labor shortages.

The scale of the investment significantly exceeds the $500 billion Stargate project announced earlier this year, in which SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle, and MGX are collaborating to build large-scale AI infrastructure. SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son is expected to chair the Stargate initiative.

In parallel, SoftBank continues backing next-generation robotics, including leading a $500 million round in Skild AI, a startup developing general-purpose AI models for adaptable, task-agnostic robots.
