Fivetran, a leading provider of automated data movement solutions, has announced the acquisition of Census, a reverse ETL platform that enables operational teams to activate data by syncing it from cloud warehouses into business applications. The deal marks a pivotal expansion for Fivetran, which will now offer an end-to-end data movement solution — from ingestion to activation.
Founded in 2018, Census has raised over $80 million from investors including Sequoia, Andreessen Horowitz, and Tiger Global. Fivetran CEO George Fraser said the acquisition addresses long-standing customer demand for reverse ETL capabilities and builds on shared DNA between the two companies. Once finalized, the Census team will join Fivetran, and its platform will be fully integrated under the Fivetran brand.
