LM Arena, the crowdsourced benchmarking platform relied on by leading AI labs, has closed a $100 million seed funding round, valuing the organization at $600 million. The financing was co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and UC Investments, with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Felicis Ventures, and Kleiner Perkins.
Founded in 2023 by UC Berkeley researchers, LM Arena enables companies like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic to publish flagship models for independent community evaluation. In response to recent claims that some participants tried to game its rankings, LM Arena’s leadership asserted that robust governance mechanisms safeguard the fairness and integrity of its leaderboards.
The new capital will expand LM Arena’s AI evaluation suite and deepen partnerships that drive transparent, industry-wide performance testing.
