Amazon is launching a new research and development group dedicated to agentic AI, signaling its deepening focus on autonomous systems and robotics. The initiative, reported by CNBC, will operate within Lab126, Amazon’s hardware innovation hub responsible for devices like the Kindle and Echo.
The new team will explore agentic AI applications across robotics, with a particular emphasis on enhancing warehouse automation and autonomous decision-making capabilities. By embedding this group within its hardware R&D division, Amazon aims to bridge intelligent software with real-world robotic systems, accelerating development of AI agents that can plan, adapt, and act independently within physical environments. Amazon has yet to release further details about the team’s leadership or roadmap.
