Less than a year after exiting one of Africa’s largest tech acquisitions, Expensya co-founders Karim Jouini and Jihed Othmani have returned with a bold new venture: Thunder Code, a generative AI-powered software testing platform. The Paris- and Tunis-based startup has raised $9 million in seed funding to accelerate development and scale globally.
Thunder Code deploys AI agents that simulate QA testers, identifying interface and usability issues while learning from feedback — offering a faster, smarter alternative to traditional testing. Jouini said the new venture was inspired by integration challenges at Medius, where he served as CTO post-acquisition. “We saw firsthand how generative AI could transform development workflows,” he noted, calling Thunder Code “unicorn material” in both vision and velocity.
