Amazon Acquires AI Wearables Startup Bee to Expand Ambient Intelligence Offering

Amazon has acquired Bee, an AI wearables startup known for its voice-recording bracelet and Apple Watch app, according to Bee co-founder Maria de Lourdes Zollo. The deal, which has not yet closed, was confirmed by Amazon to TechCrunch. Bee’s product captures ambient conversations to generate reminders and to-do lists, functioning as a low-cost AI assistant with a $49.99 device and $19 monthly subscription.

The acquisition marks Amazon’s push beyond Echo devices into wearable AI, as tech giants race to build more personal, intelligent assistants. Bee employees have been offered roles at Amazon, though it remains unclear whether Bee’s current privacy model — featuring real-time processing and user-controlled data deletion — will persist under Amazon’s ownership.
