Bitfount Announces $8M Series A to Scale Federated AI Platform for Clinical Research

London-based Bitfount has secured $8 million (£5.9 million) in Series A funding to accelerate the deployment of its federated AI platform across global healthcare systems. The round was led by Parkwalk Advisors with participation from Ahren Innovation Capital, Pace Ventures, Foresight Group, and Portfolio Ventures.

Bitfount enables clinical research collaboration without compromising patient privacy by bringing AI algorithms to data sources rather than moving sensitive data across systems. Its platform supports both EHR and medical imaging, allowing healthcare providers and pharmaceutical companies to streamline patient recruitment, reduce screen failure rates, and accelerate model development — without sharing raw data.

Founded by Dr Blaise Thomson and Dr Naaman Tammuz, Bitfount is addressing core infrastructure bottlenecks that slow clinical trials, aligning with the UK government’s 10-Year Health Plan. The funding will drive platform expansion across the clinical trial lifecycle and support new partnerships with pharmaceutical companies and research institutions seeking AI-driven solutions that meet the strictest data privacy standards.
