OpenAI has announced plans to establish its first office in New Delhi, marking a major step in its expansion into India’s fast-growing AI market. The move follows the launch of ChatGPT Go, a localized subscription plan priced at ₹399 per month, designed to make AI tools more accessible to Indian users.
The new office will be supported by recent senior appointments, including Pragya Misra as public policy and partnerships lead and Rishi Jaitly as senior advisor for government engagement. OpenAI will also host its first Education Summit in India this month and a Developer Day later this year. With this investment, OpenAI aims to strengthen partnerships, tailor AI products for local needs, and play a leading role in India’s growing AI ecosystem.
