LangChain, the open-source framework for building AI agents, has secured $125 million in new funding, bringing its valuation to $1.25 billion. The Series B round was led by IVP, with participation from CapitalG, Sapphire Ventures, and existing backers Sequoia, Benchmark, and Amplify Partners.
Founded in 2022 by Harrison Chase, LangChain emerged as one of the earliest developer tools for connecting large language models (LLMs) to external data sources, APIs, and databases. The platform has since evolved into a comprehensive agentic development environment, offering products such as LangChain for agent creation, LangGraph for orchestration and memory management, and LangSmith for testing and observability.
With over 118,000 GitHub stars and a thriving open-source community, LangChain plans to accelerate product development and expand its infrastructure to support the growing global demand for production-grade AI agents.
