Google Expands Gemini AI Across TV and Maps Platforms

Google has begun rolling out its Gemini AI assistant to the Google TV Streamer, officially replacing Google Assistantas part of its broader strategy to unify AI experiences across devices. The company said Gemini will enable users to interact more naturally through voice, allowing personalized content discovery and deeper contextual understanding. Viewers can now ask complex, conversational queries such as recommendations for mixed-genre movies, recaps of previous show seasons, or trending entertainment titles. Gemini also extends beyond streaming, offering educational and practical help — from explaining science topics to children to guiding users through recipes or DIY tutorials on YouTube. The rollout will continue over the coming weeks for users aged 18 and older and will include devices such as Walmart’s Onn 4K Pro, as well as upcoming TCL and Hisense models.

Additionally, Google is introducing Gemini-powered AI tools for Google Maps, including a builder agent and MCP server, designed to help developers create interactive, map-based projects using natural language prompts. The tools leverage Gemini’s multimodal capabilities to generate customized map prototypes, visualizations, and grounded responses to real-world queries. These updates mark a significant step in Google’s plan to make Gemini the core AI layer across its consumer and developer ecosystems.
