Amazon announced it will begin a closed beta program in March to test new artificial intelligence tools designed for film and television production, marking the first external trials of technology developed by Amazon MGM Studios. The tools were created within Amazon’s AI Studio, launched last summer to build proprietary systems that improve character consistency and support pre- and post-production workflows.
According to reporting from Reuters, industry partners will be invited to participate, with initial results expected by May. The initiative is led by Albert Cheng, who oversees the AI Studio and has positioned the effort as a way to assist creative teams while protecting intellectual property. Amazon is collaborating with producers including Robert Stromberg, Kunal Nayyar, and Colin Brady, and is working with Amazon Web Services and multiple large language model providers as part of the rollout.
