Netflix has acquired InterPositive, a filmmaking technology startup founded in 2022 by actor and filmmaker Ben Affleck, in a move aimed at expanding the company’s use of artificial intelligence in film production workflows. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The company develops AI tools designed to assist film production teams during post-production. Its technology analyzes footage from existing productions to help address issues such as continuity errors, lighting adjustments, background replacement, and environmental enhancements while maintaining cinematic consistency.
Affleck said the project began as an effort to explore how artificial intelligence could support filmmaking while preserving human judgment and creative decision-making. InterPositive’s AI models were developed to understand visual logic and editorial consistency while respecting artistic intent.
Following the acquisition, Ben Affleck will join Netflix as a senior adviser. Elizabeth Stone, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Netflix, said the partnership reflects the company’s strategy of using AI tools to support creators rather than replace them.
