GE Vernova announced an agreement to aquire Canadian robotics and automation integrator Robotech Automation. The energy technology company did not disclose the financial details of the deal, but said the acquisition will expand its robotics capabilities and automation efforts across its manufacturing and supply chain operations. GE Vernova said the transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary conditions.
Robotech, based near Montreal, develops customized robotics and automation systems through in-house engineering, design and systems integration capabilities. The private company employs approximately 35 people and works with manufacturing partners to deliver tailored industrial automation solutions.
According to GE Vernova, the acquisition is intended to strengthen robotics and automation work underway at its Advanced Research Center and support deployment across the company’s supply chain. The company also expects it will improve manufacturing performance in areas including safety, quality, delivery and operational efficiency.
“Robotech brings exactly the kind of specialized talent, proprietary systems, and hands-on integration expertise that will accelerate what we’re building in robotics and automation at GE Vernova,” GE Vernova CEO Scott Strazik said in the announcement. “GE Vernova is committed to advancing our capabilities in areas that are critical to how we operate and compete with excellence, and this acquisition is a focused, strategic step to add key talent, accelerate our organic programs, and establish a world-class robotics deployment capability within our Advanced Research Center.”
Robotech co-founders Carl Thibault and Francis Bourbonnais described the deal as an opportunity for the robotics team to contribute to larger-scale automation projects. The companies already have existing collaborations underway, including projects at GE Vernova manufacturing facilities in Schenectady, New York and Charleroi, Pennsylvania.
GE Vernova has operated in Canada for more than 130 years and currently employs more than 2,400 people across six locations, according to the company.
