Asana has acquired StackAI, a Y Combinator-backed AI workflow automation company, for $75 million, as the project management platform repositions itself as an operating system for human-agent teams. StackAI co-founders Tony Rosinol and Bernard Aceituno will join Asana as part of the deal.
StackAI had raised just under $20 million, including a $16 million Series A backed by Gradient and Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch, building AI agents that integrate with Salesforce, Slack, and Google Workspace. The acquisition complements Asana’s existing AI Studio and AI Teammates products, with CEO Dan Rogers saying the deal would allow customers to automate complex end-to-end business processes.
Asana has lost more than half its market capitalisation since ChatGPT’s emergence, but new leadership is betting that deep workflow integration gives it a competitive edge over standalone AI automation tools.
