Insider Brief
- Denner has deployed 200 autonomous cleaning robots from Pudu Robotics across its Swiss supermarket network following a pilot program, as part of an effort to improve store operations and cleaning efficiency.
- The robots help manage increased cleaning demands associated with expanded fresh produce offerings while allowing employees to focus on customer service and other in-store tasks.
- The deployment uses Pudu’s CC1 cleaning robot, which combines scrubbing, sweeping, vacuuming and dust mopping, with implementation, training and maintenance support provided by regional distributor Robobee.
Swiss supermarket chain Denner has expanded its use of cleaning robots through a partnership with Chinese robot maker Pudu Robotics and regional distributor Robobee, deploying 200 autonomous floor-cleaning robots across its store network.
According to the companies, the rollout follows a pilot program launched in four stores in 2025 and is part of Denner’s broader effort to modernize store operations and improve efficiency. The robots are being used to help manage growing cleaning demands associated with the chain’s expanded fresh produce offerings while allowing employees to focus on customers and other tasks.
The deployment uses Pudu Robotics’ CC1 cleaning robot, an autonomous system that combines scrubbing, sweeping, vacuuming and dust mopping. Denner said visibility and safety during operating hours were among the factors evaluated during the pilot program.
The companies said the robots will support store employees and not replace them, with automation focused on routine floor-cleaning tasks. Denner indicated the time savings can be redirected toward jobs such as customer service and product management.
According to Pudu Robotics, the CC1 platform includes autonomous navigation, scheduling and monitoring capabilities and is designed to operate with minimal staff intervention. The company said it also developed software modifications to address the mineral-rich water conditions commonly found in parts of Europe.
The project was implemented with support from Robobee, which provided deployment, training and maintenance services across the retailer’s store network.
