Insider Brief
- Cognibotics was selected for €6.5 million in blended finance from the European Innovation Council Accelerator to advance HKM1800, its industrial robot platform for logistics and manufacturing.
- The funding, awarded under the Horizon Europe program, includes a €2.5 million grant and €4 million in equity financing to support development and industrialization of the platform.
- Cognibotics said HKM1800 is designed to deliver delta-class speed across a workspace 10 times larger than traditional systems, use about one-third less energy than traditional robots and perform more than 2,000 picks an hour across a 10-square-meter workspace.

According to Cognibotics, the capital will support the next stage of development and industrialization of HKM1800, its robot platform for logistics and manufacturing.
The Swedish company noted that its HKM1800 combines a hybrid kinematic design with advanced motion control. Cognibotics said the platform is designed to deliver delta-class speed across a workspace 10 times larger than traditional systems, while using about one-third less energy than traditional robots.
“This is an important validation of both our technology and our direction as a company,” noted CEO Fredrik Malmgren. “The project is not only about bringing HKM1800 to market, but also about advancing the software and automation approach behind it. Together, this gives us a strong platform for scaling in logistics and manufacturing.”
HKM1800 is designed to reduce engineering work, speed commissioning and make advanced automation easier to scale, according to Cognibotics. The company said the platform can be installed quickly and perform more than 2,000 picks an hour across a 10-square-meter workspace.
Cognibotics is based in Lund, Sweden, and develops motion technology for industrial automation, including motion control, arm kinematics, real-time software, motion programming and motion intelligence.
Cognibotics was one of 38 companies selected in the EIC Accelerator’s June 2026 round, according to the EIC. The companies were chosen from 87 that reached the interview stage, with total proposed grant funding of €90 million across the cohort. About 84% of the companies are eligible for blended finance, while others received grant-only or equity-only support. The selected companies come from 16 EU and associated countries, with the largest groups from France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland, and 21% are led by women in senior roles such as CEO, CTO or CSO.
