TikTok is expanding its AI governance efforts with the launch of a new setting that lets users control how much AI-generated content appears in their For You feed. The feature is being added to the platform’s “Manage Topics” tool, allowing people to adjust the prominence of AI-generated posts alongside existing categories. The company said the control is designed to help users personalise their experience as AI-only feeds continue to grow across the industry, following recent launches from Meta and OpenAI.
Alongside the new setting, TikTok is rolling out enhanced safeguards for identifying AI media. The company is testing “invisible watermarking,” a detection layer readable only by TikTok, which will sit atop its current use of C2PA Content Credentials. The platform will apply these watermarks to AI content produced with its tools and to uploads carrying C2PA metadata, aiming to improve reliability as such media spreads across apps.
TikTok also announced a $2 million AI literacy fund to support organisations, including Girls Who Code, in developing educational content focused on safe and responsible AI use.
