Skild AI in Talks for $1B+ Raise to Advance Foundation Models for General-Purpose Robotics

Skild AI, a developer of large-scale AI foundation models for robots, is negotiating a more than $1 billion funding round led by SoftBank Group and Nvidia, according to sources familiar with the deal. The round could value the company at approximately $14 billion, nearly tripling its valuation from a $4.7 billion Series B closed earlier this year with backing from Nvidia, Samsung, and LG’s venture arm.

Founded in 2023 by former Meta AI researchers and supported by investors including Amazon and Lightspeed Venture Partners, Skild focuses on AI software that enables robots to perceive, adapt, and make human-like decisions across diverse environments — without manufacturing hardware of its own. The potential investment reflects accelerating momentum in humanoid and general-purpose robotics as advances in AI unlock more complex automation capabilities in factories and homes. The deal, which could close before Christmas, comes as robotics adoption becomes a national priority and major technology firms expand investment in intelligent automation.
