Sandbar Closes $23M in Funding to Expand AI-Powered Note-Taking Ring Platform

Sandbar, an artificial intelligence startup founded by former Meta employees Mina Fahmi and Kirak Hong, has raised $23 million in Series A funding to advance development of its AI-powered wearable note-taking device, the Stream ring. The round was led by Adjacent and Kindred Ventures, bringing the company’s total funding to $36 million.

The Stream ring is designed to capture voice notes and interact with an AI assistant through a connected smartphone application. The device features a proximity microphone that activates when users press a touch-sensitive panel, enabling voice recordings, AI conversations, and media controls. Sandbar said early demand has been strong, with initial preorders selling out.

The company plans to ship the device this summer while expanding its AI capabilities, including conversational interactions and agent-style workflows that allow users to take action on recorded notes. Sandbar intends to use the new funding to grow its software and machine learning teams as it develops its AI-driven productivity platform.
