Jhana, a legal-tech startup focused on AI-powered legal assistants, has raised $1.6 million in a seed funding round led by Girish Mathrubootham (Freshworks founder) and Manav Garg (Eka Software founder) through their Together Fund. Other investors include notable names like Shyamal Anadkat (OpenAI), Scott Davis (VMWare), Kunal Shah (CRED), Harshil Mathur and Shashank Kumar (Razorpay), and Cory Levy (First Text). The company expects additional funding from Indian investors, with full details to be disclosed soon.
Founded in 2021 at Harvard University, Jhana’s AI-driven tools assist lawyers and legal teams in streamlining research and document review. Its proprietary database of over 15 million case laws and academic sources allows users to generate legal outputs, such as memos and citations, from natural language inputs. The startup also provides customizable AI solutions for enterprise clients.
With the new funding, Jhana plans to further develop its legal datasets and expand its team, positioning itself for growth in India and beyond.
