ServiceNow, CoreWeave & Others Pledge $8.2B to Boost AI Infrastructure in UK Data Centers

ServiceNow and AI startup CoreWeave announced major investments in the UK to bolster its data center infrastructure and support AI growth. ServiceNow committed $1.5 billion over the next five years to expand its UK business, increase staffing, and localize data processing for its large language models (LLMs) using NVIDIA GPUs in London and Newport. This effort aims to enhance AI capabilities for UK clients and government, aligning with the push for “AI sovereignty” in Europe, ensuring data and technology remain within the region.

CoreWeave, which rents out GPUs for AI model training, pledged £750 million ($978.6 million) for AI infrastructure in the UK, following a £1 billion commitment made earlier this year.

Two additional US data center operators also revealed expansion plans: CyrusOne plans to invest £2.5 billion, while CloudHQ will develop a £1.9 billion data center campus in Oxfordshire.

Overall, these investments total £6.3 billion, with the UK government hailing it as a sign of confidence in Britain’s business environment. UK Technology Minister Peter Kyle described the investments as a boost for sustained growth.

ServiceNow’s CEO Bill McDermott said the UK’s leadership in AI innovation, stating the investment would accelerate AI development, benefiting communities and enhancing societal bonds.

The announcements were made at the International Investment Summit, where UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer gathered business leaders to attract further foreign investment into the country’s tech sector.
