Paris Startup Mago Secures €1.5M to Revolutionize Video Creation with AI

Paris-based Mago, a startup specializing in AI-powered video transformation tools, has announced that it has raised €1.5 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Berlin-based investor Atlantic Labs. The funding will support Mago’s plans to expand its team and accelerate development ahead of a market launch scheduled for early 2025.

Mago was co-founded by Alvaro Lamarche Toloza and Aleksandr Spirin to provide creative professionals with AI tools that enhance and stylize video content. The company builds upon Spirin’s earlier work on WarpFusion, an open-source video style transfer project that achieved significant online traction, amassing over 150 million views and being featured in professional productions such as series and music videos.

The startup’s mission is to empower creators to apply a variety of aesthetic styles to any video, whether it’s live-action or 3D animation. According to the founders, the technology enables creators to transform footage into visual formats such as animation or oil painting, while maintaining professional-grade quality.

Lamarche Toloza was reported to have explained that Mago functions as “a universal filter for professional video, offering complete creative control and freedom.” He added that the software’s AI workflow not only accelerates production pipelines but also amplifies creators’ abilities without replacing human creativity.

Mago plans to offer its software through both subscription-based (SaaS) and on-premise options, alongside a free version. The company has also revealed plans for future updates to include support for popular tools like Unreal Engine and Blender.

The team envisions Mago as a tool to democratize video stylization and transformation, providing a seamless interface that simplifies complex AI workflows.

Atlantic Labs, a prominent European first-round investor, expressed confidence in Mago’s vision and potential. Alice Bardon Catineau, representing Atlantic Labs, reportedly said that Mago’s approach to AI-driven video production represents a “game-changer for creators.” She emphasized the founders’ deep understanding of the creative industry and their ability to address existing challenges, stating that Atlantic Labs is excited to support Mago as it scales its technology globally.

Founded in 2013, Atlantic Labs has backed over 150 startups, including notable names such as Soundcloud, GetYourGuide, and Clue. With a focus on category-defining ventures, the firm continues to invest in innovative solutions that reshape industries.

Mago’s €1.5M funding marks an important milestone as it moves closer to delivering cutting-edge AI tools to the global creative community.
