Amazon has announced a $20 billion investment to expand its data center infrastructure across Pennsylvania, marking one of the company’s largest commitments to advancing AI and cloud technologies. The initiative will establish new “innovation campuses” in Salem Township near Pittsburgh and Falls Township outside Philadelphia, with additional sites under consideration.
The company said the project will generate at least 1,250 new high-tech jobs and support thousands more through the AWS supply chain. David Zapolsky, Amazon’s Chief Global Affairs and Legal Officer, said the move reflects Amazon’s dedication to “advancing AI innovation while creating lasting economic opportunities.”
The expansion follows similar efforts in North Carolina and deepens Amazon’s push into scalable, AI-driven cloud infrastructure.
