AI music startup Suno has acquired WavTool, a browser-based digital audio workstation, to strengthen its music editing and production tools for creators. The deal, finalized earlier this year, brings WavTool’s stem separation, AI-assisted composition, and audio generation capabilities into Suno’s newly launched editing interface.
WavTool, founded in 2023, ceased independent operations in November. Most of its team has now joined Suno’s product and engineering divisions. The acquisition follows a string of legal disputes, including a new lawsuit from 5th Wheel Records and artist Tony Justice, echoing earlier copyright claims from major labels like Universal, Warner, and Sony. Suno, which raised $125 million in May, continues to invest aggressively in product development as it negotiates licensing talks with music rights holders.
