Alibaba has announced its entry into the smart wearables space with the launch of its first AI-powered glasses, the Quark AI Glasses, set to debut in China by the end of 2025. The device is powered by the company’s proprietary Qwen large language model and its upgraded Quark AI assistant, marking a significant move to bring its artificial intelligence capabilities into consumer hardware.
The smart glasses will support hands-free calling, music playback, real-time translation, meeting transcription, and come equipped with a built-in camera. Integration with Alipay, Taobao, and Alibaba’s mapping services will allow users to navigate, compare prices, and pay directly through the device.
Positioning itself against rivals like Meta and Xiaomi, Alibaba is leveraging its vast ecosystem of services to create a fully integrated AI wearable experience. The move reflects a broader industry trend viewing smart glasses as the next major computing platform beyond smartphones. Pricing and technical specifications have yet to be disclosed.
