Chinese humanoid robotics developer UBTech Robotics has signed an agreement to supply robots to Airbus manufacturing facilities, expanding its push to deploy industrial humanoids outside China, according to the South China Morning Post.
Airbus has purchased UBTech’s Walker S2 humanoid robot as part of a joint effort to evaluate robotics applications in aviation manufacturing, the South China Morning Post reported, citing a company statement. The deal follows a similar partnership last month with Texas Instruments, where Walker S2 units have been tested on production lines, underscoring UBTech’s accelerating overseas expansion across sectors including aviation, semiconductors, vehicles, and consumer electronics.
Introduced last year, the Walker S2 stands about 1.76 meters tall, can carry loads of up to 15 kilograms, and features an autonomous battery-swapping system designed for continuous operation, according to the South China Morning Post. The model has also been adopted by manufacturers such as BYD and Foxconn, broadening its industrial footprint.
As of late December, UBTech had produced 1,000 Walker S2 units at its factory in Guangxi province, the South China Morning Post reported, adding that orders for the company’s humanoid robots reached 1.4 billion yuan in 2025. Founded in 2012 and listed in Hong Kong in 2023, UBTech expects to ship tens of thousands of industrial humanoids this year as China pushes for faster commercial deployment to gain an early lead in the sector.
