SpendRule Emerges From Stealth With $2M to Deploy AI for Healthcare Spending Oversight

SpendRule, an AI-powered platform designed to help healthcare systems monitor procurement and contract spending, has emerged from stealth with $2 million in funding led by Abundant Venture Partners, with participation from MemorialCare Innovation Fund and Zeal Capital Partners. The company was founded by CEO Chris Heckler and CTO Joseph Akintolayo, combining healthcare industry experience with AI and supply-chain expertise.

SpendRule integrates with existing enterprise resource planning, contract management, and accounts payable systems to analyze invoices, contracts, and vendor data, identifying discrepancies before payments are issued. The platform targets complex service purchases that lack barcodes and are difficult to audit manually. Early adopters include Kettering Health, MemorialCare, and MUSC Health. The new funding will support team expansion and continued development of the company’s AI infrastructure.
