South Korea’s Doosan Robotics to Supply Manufacturing Robot Systems to Kwangjin Group

Doosan Robotics announced it will supply more than 100 manufacturing robot systems to automotive parts manufacturer Kwangjin Group under a strategic automation partnership aimed at expanding robotic production across the supplier’s global plants.

The companies signed a memorandum of understanding on March 9 at Bundang Doosan Tower in Seongnam, South Korea. Under the agreement, Doosan Robotics will deploy robot solutions across Kwangjin Group’s domestic and international facilities through 2027, supporting automation of key manufacturing processes.

Kwangjin Group produces automotive door system components and operates factories in the United States, Mexico, India and Vietnam. Its customers include major automakers such as General Motors, Ford Motor Co., Navistar, Volkswagen, Hyundai Motor and Honda. The supplier has already deployed Doosan robots in several operations, including riveting, assembly and inspection processes used in window regulator and door module production lines.

According to Doosan, the expanded deployment follows earlier installations that the companies said significantly improved production quality. After integrating Doosan’s robotic systems, Kwangjin reported eliminating product defects in certain production lines, a result that helped lead to the larger order.

Doosan said its manufacturing robot solutions are designed to operate within existing factory layouts without requiring major reconfiguration. The systems emphasize precision and collaborative operation, allowing human workers and robots to operate safely within the same production environments. By automating repetitive tasks and reducing variability tied to operator skill levels, the robots are intended to deliver more consistent quality while improving production efficiency.

Beyond the equipment supply agreement, Doosan Robotics and Kwangjin plan to expand their collaboration by jointly developing customized robotic systems tailored to additional component manufacturing processes. The partners said they will establish a joint task force to oversee phased implementation and optimize factory environments for robotics integration.

“This agreement reflects the strong trust placed in our robot solutions, particularly following the achievement of a zero-defect rate, which directly led to this expanded partnership,” CEO of Doosan Robotics Inwon Park noted in the announcement. “We will ensure the successful deployment of our solutions across Kwangjin Group’s production facilities and further strengthen our position in the global automation market through close collaboration.”
