Anthropic’s Statement On the US Government Directive to Suspend Access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5

Anthropic said it has been ordered by the U.S. government to suspend access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all foreign nationals worldwide over national security concerns related to a reported jailbreak technique, forcing the company to disable the models for all customers. The company said it is complying with the directive but disputes the government’s assessment, arguing that the disclosed vulnerabilities were limited, already known and comparable to capabilities available in other leading AI models. Google DeepMind Maps Four Routes From Human-Level AI to Superintelligence

Google DeepMind researchers said artificial superintelligence is unlikely to emerge through a single breakthrough and instead outlined several overlapping pathways, including scaling existing systems, algorithmic advances, recursive self-improvement and coordination among large numbers of AI agents. The team argued that systems exceeding human capabilities across most domains would still face physical and economic constraints, while urging policymakers and institutions to prepare for gradual but potentially significant disruptions as AI capabilities continue to advance. Researchers Find Users Trust AI and Human Fact-Checkers Equally, But for Different Reasons

A study from Penn State published in Media Psychology found that people trust AI-powered fact-checkers at roughly the same level as human fact-checkers, although they perceive each as having different strengths. Participants viewed AI as better at analyzing large volumes of content and identifying language patterns, while human fact-checkers were trusted more for evaluating evidence and interpreting complex situations, with transparency increasing trust in both types of systems.
