Maritime Robotics has raised €28 million in growth funding as the Norwegian company looks to expand its autonomous maritime systems.
According to the company, the round was led by Mustard Seed + Partners, with participation from existing investors EnvisionTech, Nysnø Climate Investment and Umoe, as well as company founders, employees and early backers. The new funding will support the company’s growth as demand increases for autonomous maritime systems across commercial, environmental and government sectors.
“We are now past the experimentation phase,” co-founder and CEO Vegard Evjen Hovstein said in the announcement. “Across both commercial and defense markets, we are seeing structural adoption of autonomous maritime systems, with customers shifting from pilot projects to fleet-level deployment strategies. This fundamentally changes the scale requirements of our business. This investment allows us to scale manufacturing and expand our product portfolio to meet accelerating global demand.”
Based in Trondheim, Norway, Maritime Robotics develops autonomous surface vessels, navigation systems and mission-specific payload technologies for marine operations. The company’s systems are used in applications including offshore energy, hydrographic surveying, environmental monitoring, fisheries management and maritime security.
The company said its platform combines autonomous navigation software, vessel design and modular payload systems that can be configured for different operational requirements.
“Maritime Robotics has established a leading position in maritime autonomy, with proven deployments across demanding dual-use environments,” added Stanislas de Joussineau, co-founder and managing partner of Mustard Seed + Partners. “The combination of modular platform architecture, reliable autonomous navigation, and a strong operational track record creates a scalable foundation for international expansion.”
