Google has expanded access to Nano Banana-powered personalised image generation within its Gemini app, making the feature available free to all eligible US users, a capability previously restricted to paying Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers.
The tool, part of Gemini’s Personal Intelligence feature, generates images tailored to a user’s interests by drawing on data connected through their Google account, including Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search activity. Rather than manually specifying personal details in a prompt, users can request an illustration reflecting their favourite things and Gemini will infer relevant context automatically. The system can also pull existing photos directly from Google Photos, removing the need for manual uploads.
Personal Intelligence remains an opt-in feature, allowing users to control which connected apps Gemini can access. Once enabled, it applies by default to every prompt, though users retain the ability to disable it through a toggle in the Tools menu.
Google first rolled out Personal Intelligence broadly to US users in March before expanding to India and Japan. The company also recently outlined a series of upcoming Gemini app updates, including a Daily Brief feature, a redesigned interface, the Gemini Omni video model, and a personal AI agent called Gemini Spark.
Gemini surpassed 750 million monthly active users earlier this year, underscoring its growing position among leading consumer AI platforms.
