Applied Intuition launched Dana, its new software platform for building, testing, deploying and operating physical AI systems across industries.

Dana combines agentic AI, application-development tools and Applied Intuition’s existing software infrastructure for intelligent machines, according to the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company. Applied Intuition described Dana as the first agentic platform built specifically for physical AI systems.

“We believe physical AI will become one of the defining technologies of this century,” co-foundere and CEO Qasar Younis said. “Our ambition is to help bring intelligence to a billion machines, and Dana is the platform we built to make that possible.”

Dana is designed for systems that must be tested, tracked and deployed in physical environments where safety and reliability matter, the company said. That’s different than most AI agents that typically only deal with the digital world and it is designed to help teams move faster from concept to production while maintaining the testing, tracking and oversight required for intelligent machines.

Applied Intuition noted that Dana includes tools for data, visualization, evaluation, traceability and governance to help companies manage the full development cycle for safety-critical machines, from early engineering work to deployment and operation.

The platform can be used across several industries, including automotive, trucking, mining, construction, robotics, agriculture and fleet operations, according to the company. Use cases include software-defined vehicle development, advanced driver-assistance systems, autonomous trucking, heavy-equipment operations and intelligent in-vehicle experiences.

Dana’s Capabilities

Dana allows customers to use Applied Intuition’s reference applications or build their own applications on the platform. Those reference applications cover areas including autonomy and fleet operations.

The platform supports both natural-language and command-line interfaces. Applied Intuition said that setup is intended to let engineering teams complete complex development tasks more directly and speed up work across teams and systems.

Dana can also connect with enterprise and collaboration tools, including Slack and Jira. Those integrations are meant to bring together engineering and operational workflows that are often handled across separate systems.

Applied Intuition said it has used Dana internally since last year to build and deliver solutions for customers in automotive, trucking, mining and agriculture. The company said Dana’s agent-driven workflows have shortened some vehicle-development phases from months to days.

The company has also offered early access to selected customers. Isuzu Motors is using Dana to accelerate Level 4 autonomy work for its commercial truck fleet, according to Applied Intuition. Level 4 autonomy refers to systems that can drive without human control under defined conditions.

Komatsu is also among the early customers. Applied Intuition said the heavy-equipment maker is using Dana as part of its work to advance digital capabilities for mining equipment and related solutions.
