X has announced new enforcement measures aimed at limiting the spread of misleading artificial intelligence content related to armed conflicts on its platform. The policy focuses on creators who publish AI-generated videos depicting warfare without clearly disclosing that the material was produced using AI tools.
Nikita Bier, Head of Product at X, said the company will suspend creators who post undisclosed AI-generated conflict footage from the platform’s Creator Revenue Sharing Program for a period of 90 days. According to Bier, the policy is intended to ensure audiences have access to reliable information during wartime, when generative AI technologies make it increasingly easy to fabricate realistic video content.
The company said enforcement will rely on a combination of generative AI detection technologies and its crowdsourced moderation system, Community Notes. Creators who continue to publish undisclosed AI war footage after the initial suspension will face permanent removal from the revenue program.
X’s Creator Revenue Sharing Program allows users to earn advertising revenue from popular posts, but critics have argued that the model can incentivize sensationalized or misleading content designed to maximize engagement.
