Foxconn Chairman Young Liu revealed in a recent interview unprecedented growth in the company’s AI server business while detailing how artificial intelligence is transforming both their manufacturing operations and future outlook. The technology giant, which trades as Hon Hai in China and Taiwan, sees strong momentum in the AI sector continuing for the foreseeable future.
Liu expressed exceptional optimism about their AI server order book, stating it’s “much better than we thought,” with production facilities “almost fully utilized.” This surge in demand has prompted Foxconn to expand its manufacturing footprint with new factories in Mexico.
The chairman shared his perspective on AI’s evolutionary trajectory, noting that we’re currently at level two of a four-level intelligence scale. Liu believes the AI boom will persist as “the large scale language model still evolving and the artificial intelligence is becoming more and more intelligent.”
The impact of AI on Foxconn’s internal operations has been remarkable. Liu reported that AI implementations have revolutionized their workforce efficiency — while the company previously employed 1.3 million workers three to four years ago, they now maintain higher production levels with only 900,000 employees. The chairman explained they’re seeing continuous improvement in productivity, with annual efficiency gains of 10 to 15%.
Looking ahead, Liu indicated that AI-enabled devices represent the next major growth opportunity for the industry, suggesting Foxconn will continue to invest in both AI server production and internal AI capabilities to maintain its competitive edge in global manufacturing.
