Apple’s AI Search Leader Ke Yang Departs for Meta Amid Ongoing Talent Exodus

Apple has lost another key figure from its artificial intelligence division, as Ke Yang, who led the company’s AI-driven web search initiatives, departs to join Meta, according to Bloomberg. Yang’s exit follows a series of high-profile departures from Apple’s AI and Machine Learning (AIML) unit, including Ruoming Pang, the former head of AI models, and several team members who have since joined Meta’s Superintelligence Labs.

Yang recently oversaw Apple’s Answers, Knowledge, and Information (AKI) team, responsible for enhancing Siri’s web retrieval capabilities and integrating more advanced AI-driven search tools. The loss comes as Apple prepares a major Siri overhaul set for March, aimed at improving the assistant’s competitiveness against OpenAI, Google, and Perplexity.

The continued turnover raises concerns about Apple’s ability to retain top AI talent as rivals accelerate development in the rapidly evolving AI search and assistant market.
