Foxconn and Mitsubishi Electric have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly supply high-efficiency, high-reliability infrastructure for AI data centers globally, the companies announced.

Under the agreement, the Taiwanese electronics manufacturing giant, officially Hon Hai Technology Group, and the Japanese industrial conglomerate will collaborate on the development and delivery of energy-efficient AI data center solutions, combining Foxconn’s electronics production scale with Mitsubishi Electric’s expertise in digital engineering and energy systems.

The companies said their aim is to contribute to sustainability efforts, including the advancement of a circular economy, by deploying AI-focused infrastructure designed to lower energy consumption and improve reliability in large-scale computing environments.

In addition to targeting the data center market, Foxconn and Mitsubishi Electric said they plan to explore broader use cases and new business models rooted in sustainability, leveraging their combined technology assets to address social and environmental challenges beyond computing infrastructure.

Earlier in the week, Foxconn Chairman Liu Young-way said the company has significantly reduced its dependence on China, with only 65% of its production now located there compared to nearly all just three years ago, according to remarks reported by Taiwan News. Speaking at the Global Management Dialogue in Tokyo, Liu said the shift reflects a broader trend toward regionalized manufacturing driven by domestic economic goals.
