ElevenLabs, the AI audio company backed by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and ICONIQ, has announced partnerships with Sir Michael Caine and Matthew McConaughey to create authorized AI-generated voices for commercial use. The collaborations mark a major step in bridging Hollywood and artificial intelligence, following years of debate around ethical guardrails in the entertainment industry.
As part of the partnership, McConaughey, also an investor in ElevenLabs, will use his AI voice to translate his newsletter into Spanish audio, while Caine’s likeness will be featured on the company’s new AI voice marketplace. The platform allows brands to license officially sanctioned voices of public figures, including Liza Minnelli and Dr. Maya Angelou, representing a new era of responsible, consent-based AI audio creation.
