Google Launches New AI Shopping Features Across Search and Gemini Ahead of Holiday Season

Google has introduced a major suite of AI-powered shopping tools designed to make online buying faster, more intuitive, and more conversational. The updates include AI-driven shopping queries in Google Search, new shopping capabilities inside the Gemini app, agentic checkout, and an AI feature that can call local stores to confirm product availability.

The new AI Mode in Search lets users ask natural-language shopping questions and receive tailored results with images, prices, reviews, and real-time inventory, powered by Google’s Shopping Graph, which tracks more than 50 billion products. The Gemini app will now generate richer shopping ideas for U.S. users, while Search gains agentic checkout, allowing Google to track price drops and complete purchases on partnered sites using Google Pay with user permission.

Google is also rolling out an AI calling tool — built on Duplex — that contacts local retailers to check stock and pricing. This feature is launching in the U.S. for select categories, offering shoppers a more seamless, assisted shopping experience.
