DoorDash Removes Driver Following Alleged Use of AI-Generated Image to Fake Delivery

DoorDash has permanently banned a delivery driver after investigating an incident in which an AI-generated image was allegedly used to falsely mark an order as delivered. The case emerged after Austin resident Byrne Hobart reported that a driver accepted his order, immediately marked it as complete, and submitted what appeared to be a synthetic image showing a DoorDash bag at his front door. The post gained traction online, with additional users reporting similar experiences involving the same driver profile in the Austin area.

Following a rapid internal review, DoorDash confirmed the driver’s removal and issued a refund to the affected customer. The company reiterated that it applies both automated systems and human oversight to detect fraud and enforces a zero-tolerance policy for misuse of AI or platform tools that undermine trust.
