Amazon has begun offering OpenAI’s latest AI models through its Bedrock cloud service, moving swiftly after Microsoft relinquished its exclusive rights to OpenAI’s products. The announcement came just a day after the revised Microsoft-OpenAI agreement was made public, with Amazon CEO Andy Jassy publicly signaling interest almost immediately.
AWS Bedrock now includes OpenAI’s newest models, its Codex code-writing service, and a new agent-building product called Bedrock Managed Agents, designed specifically around OpenAI’s reasoning models with features including agent steering and security controls.
Amazon described the launch as the start of a deeper collaboration with OpenAI. The development reflects a broader realignment in AI partnerships, with Microsoft increasingly turning to Anthropic as its own relationship with OpenAI continues to cool.
