Meta is racing to expand its AI infrastructure and creator tools simultaneously, deploying both unconventional construction methods and new platform intelligence features in the same week.
On the infrastructure side, Meta has erected six large weatherproof tent structures — officially termed rapid deployment structures — outside New Albany, Ohio, each spanning 125,000 square feet, according to Michael Thomas, founder of data centre tracking firm Cleanview. The approach, which CEO Mark Zuckerberg had previewed last year, is designed to cut construction timelines in half. The site is powered by 200 megawatts of modular gas turbines, a tactic associated with rival xAI. The acceleration comes as Meta’s latest AI model, Muse Spark, has reportedly been completed but its developer APIs repeatedly delayed. Meta has committed up to $145 billion in data centre capital expenditure.
On the product side, Meta is rolling out an AI creator assistant on Facebook, launching first in the US, Canada, and India. The conversational tool gives creators personalised guidance on posting timing, audience trends, and content ideas drawn from trending audio and cultural moments — removing the need to consult third-party tools such as ChatGPT. Meta also expanded its AI video translation feature to five new languages including Arabic and French, with more than 500 million users now watching AI-translated videos on Facebook weekly.
