Insider Brief

  • The World Economic Forum has named 100 companies from 23 countries to its 2026 Technology Pioneers cohort, with roughly half focused on artificial intelligence, robotics and the infrastructure needed to support the next generation of AI systems.
  • According to the Forum, many of the selected companies are developing technologies for autonomous AI agents, robotics, AI computing, energy infrastructure, digital identity, cybersecurity and enterprise integration rather than consumer-facing AI applications.
  • The cohort includes robotics and physical AI companies such as RLWRLD, A-Robot, Sunrise Robotics, Xense Robotics, Hello Robot, Lunar Outpost and Robeaute, reflecting growing global investment in bringing AI into real-world industrial, service and autonomous systems.

The World Economic Forum has named 100 early-stage companies from 23 countries to its 2026 Technology Pioneers cohort, with about half related to artificial intelligence and robotics.

According to the forum, many of this year’s selected companies are developing technologies that underpin AI deployment rather than consumer-facing applications. Areas of focus include software and systems for autonomous AI agents, enterprise integration, security, digital identity and payments, as well as technologies designed to address rising demand for computing power, energy and data storage.

The cohort also reflects the increasingly global nature of technology innovation, the forum noted. India contributed nine companies to the list, while South Korea recorded its largest representation to date, with companies spanning AI, robotics and quantum technologies. The organization also noted growing participation from startups based in the Middle East, Latin America and Southeast Asia.

Beyond AI infrastructure, the companies selected for the program are working across a range of sectors including energy, healthcare, industrial technology, cybersecurity, space and advanced materials. The Forum said advances in AI, simulation and automation are allowing smaller companies to pursue projects that previously required the resources of large corporations or government-backed research programs.

The Technology Pioneers program, now in its 26th year, identifies early-stage companies developing emerging technologies with the potential to influence industries and economies. Past participants have included companies that later became major players in fields such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology and clean energy, the organization noted.

Members of the 2026 cohort will participate in a two-year engagement program with the World Economic Forum and contribute to initiatives focused on emerging technologies and global challenges. The companies will also be invited to participate in the Annual Meeting of the New Champions, scheduled for June 23-25 in Dalian, China.
